What's On For Me?

During the first school term of 2012 our church has a number of special events.

Firstly, we provide weekly Bible Studies during the week. Being involved in a small group helps you to learn more about the Bible, and receive the support of Christians who share life together.

In February, we begin a new series in our morning and evening services on Mark's Gospel called the 'King's Cross'. Come and discover more about why Jesus is King and why he died on a cross. This series will run right through to Easter and provides the background to why Jesus died as we look at his life and ministry.

We will have a Church event at Easter with more information coming soon.

Where is the Church located?

Eastwood Baptist Church is located at 3 First Avenue, Eastwood NSW 2122 (Google Map). This is a short walk from Eastwood Railway Station.

Travelling to Eastwood Baptist Church

Limited parking is available on site if you are travelling by car. There are extra spaces open to the public on the road in front of the Church and around the corner on East Parade and on Second Avenue. We encourage those who are able bodied to leave the parking in the Church for those who are elderly, and park in East Parade. Please take note to park in most spots with the rear of your car to the curb.

If you are travelling by train or bus, timetables can be downloaded from the Transport Infoline website (www.131500.com.au). Eastwood Station is located on the red Northern Line and on the Newcastle & Central Coast Line.

What should I expect at Church?

If you are attending one of our weekly Sunday Church services at 9:30am, 12:30pm or 6pm, you will be met at the door by one of our welcomers. They will greet you, offer you a Church bulletin and can show you where to sit, though all seats are available to you so you may sit where it is most comfortable for you. The bulletin contains information about church activities, news, prayer points and other items such as flyers. If you would like notes from the sermon that may help you follow on with the talk, they are available in the foyer entrance too. You will find that regular attendees are very welcoming and will want to get to know you.

During the service you may usually expect a theme for each week, singing (words on projector), Bible passages being read (Bibles are available for everyone to follow), a Bible Talk where the passage read out is explained and application is given and once a month communion.

Afterwards, food and drink is served and people stay for a bit to get to know each other better and encourage each other.

If you are visiting the church building during the week, you can find the office on the side of the Church building near the hall. The Pastor can be contacted on his mobile: Rev. Steve Cooper 0420 903 095.

Can my children come to Church?

A children's program (Sunday School) runs during the 9:30am service and 12:30pm Hosanna Korean Service. The 6pm service does not have a separate children's program, but you are welcome to bring your children with you to any of the services. Please contact us if you would like more information about the Sunday School program.

You can learn about all our children's programs on our Children's page.

What should I wear?

We encourage everyone to be themselves and wear whatever you feel comfortable in as we accept people as they are. There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you're not.

How can I meet new people?

Many different activities are run by people in the church community on a weekly basis. Some are run for specific age groups while others are open to everyone. You can explore what options are available by using the menu navigation bar under "Communities" at the top of this page.

We invite you to join us for morning tea at 11am on Sunday mornings. This takes place between the morning service and the Hosanna Korean Church service. There is supper provided after the 6pm service at around 7:15pm too which you are welcome to come to.

Perhaps the best way to get to know people is by joining a Bible Study Group. Please contact us for a list of them.

Is the Church building accessible for people with physical disabilities?

Hearing Loop Logo

There is one disabled parking spot on the church grounds. There is a ramp entrance between the carpark and the church making wheelchair access easy. People can be dropped off in the carpark right in front of the church entrance.

There is a T-coil loop in the Church for people with hearing aids on certain seats (www.hearingloop.org).

Am I expected to give money when the offertory is done?

There is no obligation for you to put money into the offertory when it is passed around. It is a part of the service where regular attendees who want to contribute financially to the work of the Church can give according to what each has decided. This money is used to pay our Pastors' salaries, employ office staff, run ministries, and overall meet our yearly budget.
