Rev. Brian Powell

Brian is our Interim Pastor. He has been in Baptist ministry for 38 years. Most of this has been 30 years on the faculty of Morling College, teaching first Theology and then New Testament. Before that Brian served briefly as Pastor of two churches, and since that Brian has been in interim ministries. Before Eastwood, he served as Interim Pastor of Carlingford, Hornsby and Sans Souci Baptist Churches.
Brian trained at Sydney University to be a teacher of English and History, and subsequently taught for nine years in the Sutherland Shire. He then trained for the Baptist ministry at Morling College, and returned there in 1983 as a member of faculty. He was Vice Principal for Academic Administration in his latter years there, before retiring from the College early in 2013.
Brian is married to Julie, who is a Clinical Social Worker working part time as a Counsellor. They have two adult children and four grandchildren. Brian is an active member of the Rotary Club of North Ryde.
Rev. Grant Jones
Grant began his role with us at the beginning of 2019 and provides pastoral leadership to our 11 am Sunday service and to our youth group (Blast). He is also an SRE teacher at a local school.
Grant previously spent 5 years as the pastor of Lawson Baptist Church in the beautiful Blue Mountains, and before that 2 years as a student pastor here at Eastwood. Prior to training for pastoral ministry, Grant worked as a geotechnical engineer on construction projects in and around Sydney.
As well as his role in the church, Grant is a New Testament research student at Morling College and spends a lot of time reading and writing.
Grant is married to Yvet and they have two children and as a family they enjoy exploring the local parks, especially if there is a café nearby.
