Welcome to our weekly news.
Sunday Gatherings -14 June 2020
Sunday gatherings at the church starting from the 14th June 2020 at 10am in the main auditorium. The maximum number of people allowed on site is capped at 50, and to help us in our organisation, we are asking for all those who are planning on coming on the day to RSVP ahead of time. If RSVPs exceed the maximum allowed number, we will hold a second gathering at 2pm on Sunday.
Please indicate your intent to come via email or phone to Pastor Jonny Lam.

Children are most welcome, and it would be helpful to include them as part of your RSVPs so that we can plan accordingly. The only people we would dissuade from attending would be anyone who is unwell, or who is considered in a high-risk category due to frailty or other underlying health conditions. There will be no bus service from BaptistCare Macquarie Park until further notice. A recording of the bible talk will be uploaded onto the church website after Sunday.
We looking forward to the opportunity to reconnect with those of you who can come, and to express the unity and common hope we share in Jesus. Our times together won’t be exactly what they were, and we may have to be a little more creative in the way we do things, but the core of what we do remains the same. Our aim in gathering is still to connect with God, and to connect with each other, and both are still very much achievable.
You’ll certainly notice some significant changes; we will be adhering to the COVID-19 safety plan that the church diaconate have put together. This will include:
-a deep clean of our premises before our first public gathering
-everyone will sanitise their hands (provided) on the way in
-the use of only 1 point of entry (ramp and double doors at the carpark-side of the auditorium), and different exit point (foyer at the back of church) to help with controlling the movement of people. Those who can’t navigate stairs easily will exit first at the end of our time together using the ramp and side door.
-should there be a queue to get in, please maintain a 1.5m distance between households
-we will be keeping a register of people in attendance at the door (date, name, contact number, and signature). Please bring your own pen if possible to sign in, which will save us having to sanitise church pens between each use. At the door, everyone will be asked screening questions (around if you’ve been sick, been interstate or overseas, or been in contact with someone with a confirmed confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis in the last 14 days).
-everyone will need to be seated 2m apart from those of other households. This means we will only be able to use every second row of pews, which will be marked to show where you should be sitting.
-corporate singing will not be permitted until further notice
-offering bags will not be passed around. Instead, you will find a secure box towards the front of the church where you can deposit an envelop with cash/cheques. This will be cleared and counted at the end of our time together. We would still encourage people to give using electronic banking where possible.
-there will be no morning tea
-after each gathering, hard surfaces in the building will be cleaned according to set safety standards by appropriately trained people.
-if anyone presents with symptoms of being sick after they have attended one of our gatherings on site, please get in touch with Pastor Jonny or Matt Hampe (COVIDsafe Warden) as soon as possible so we can take appropriate action.

Webinar 4: Self-Care 24 June 2020; 7:30-8:30pm FREE
Experts Vivian Grice and Kathryn Girvan are advocates of self-care, believing that self-care is an important aspect of providing care and support to others you may come across in ministry or day to day life. Taking time to care for yourself regularly can make you a better caretaker for others. Both Vivian and Kathryn have differing experiences with their own journey of self-care.
Vivian Grice is a Baptist pastor with over forty years experience, both in local church ministries and denominational leadership roles. It is his conviction that caring well for ourselves enables us to better fulfil Jesus' mandate to 'love God and love our neighbour'. Kathryn Girvan works for BaptistCare as a chaplain in aged care. She has been accredited as a Baptist minister for twenty years and came to learn the value of self-care through her own life experience. You will leave this session with a better understanding of of the what, the why and the how of vital self-care practices that enable us to care well for others.
